The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta has announced the details for the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024. The test will be a computer-based exam held on November 24 in three different sessions across approximately 170 cities. Applicants can choose up to five cities in their preferred order for the test, though this list might change based on CAT authorities’ decisions.
Registration for CAT 2024 starts at 10 a.m. on August 1 and ends at 3 p.m. on September 13. You can register on the official IIM CAT website, iimcat.ac.in. Make sure to use a valid and unique email address and phone number for the entire process.
After you complete the registration, IIM Calcutta will issue admit cards from November 5 to 24. Once the exam is over in November, the results for CAT 2024 are expected to be released in the second week of January 2025.
The registration fee for CAT 2024 is Rs 1250 for candidates in the SC, ST, and PwD categories. For all other candidates, the fee is Rs 2500.
Candidates should remember that the registration fee for CAT 2024 is paid only once, no matter how many institutes you apply to. Once paid, the fee cannot be refunded under any circumstances.
Last year, the exam details were announced on August 2, and the test took place on November 26. A total of 3.28 lakh candidates registered, and about 2.88 lakh actually took the exam.
The CAT exam is required for admission to various Post Graduate and Fellow/Doctorate programs at IIMs. CAT scores can also be used by certain non-IIM institutions listed on the CAT website. However, IIMs are not involved in the selection process for these non-IIM institutions. Last year, 91 non-IIM institutions used CAT scores for admissions to their management programs.
The IIM institutions that use CAT scores for admissions are: IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Amritsar, IIM Bangalore, IIM Bodh Gaya, IIM Calcutta, IIM Indore, IIM Jammu, IIM Kashipur, IIM Kozhikode, IIM Lucknow, IIM Mumbai, IIM Nagpur, IIM Raipur, IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Shillong, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Tiruchirappalli, IIM Udaipur, and IIM Visakhapatnam.
