“New Suspect Detained in Vienna Taylor Swift Concert Terror Plot”
On Thursday, Austrian authorities arrested an 18-year-old Iraqi national in connection with a suspected terrorist plot targeting a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna. This arrest is significant as the suspect is linked to the main individual under investigation, suggesting a coordinated group effort.
Austrian Interior Minister Gerhard Karner provided this update during a press conference on an unrelated topic. The arrest follows the earlier apprehension of two other suspects. Among them is a 19-year-old Austrian who has been accused of planning a violent attack at Ernst Happel Stadium. This suspect allegedly intended to use bladed weapons and build a bomb. Authorities noted that the 19-year-old had quit his job shortly before his arrest, which they believe was part of his preparation for the attack.
The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to understand the full extent of the threat and the network involved.
During a search of the suspect’s home, officials discovered chemicals, liquids, and equipment for making explosives, along with bomb-making instructions and machetes, according to Franz Ruf, the director general for public security.
Officials also arrested a 17-year-old who worked at a facility that would have been open during Taylor Swift’s concert. Additionally, a 15-year-old was detained and questioned by police.
